    It saddens me that this whole debacle has to add to the pile of unwanted bad news. Cheers and support to the Asahi team. They’re doing great work.

    All I hope is that this means less drama.

    I don’t use (or want to use) Apple silicon. I don’t have a personal stake in whether Linux runs well on it. But the drama we’ve seen recently is neither good for Linux as a whole nor good for these specific subsystems.

    I do want to see more rust in the kernel, but not at the cost of harming overall kernel development. I want to see more rust in the kernel because I believe that, if done well, that step can make kernel development better.

      Yeah, I agree with you. After seeing the latest drama I get why marcan was annoyed but also IMO his response only escalated the situation and was unproductive so maybe having someone else handle the upstream code will work out better for everyone.

      Without Linus calling out Cristopher for stopping any integration of Rust in the kernel, with his primary reason being “I don’t like it”, IMO rust for Linux is a dead meme.

      While Linus has approved to adding a rust language, actions speak louder than words.
