There is no “but still”. Here’s the thing about language - it is constantly changing. Words change their meanings all the time. I cannot go to the 18th century and use modern vernacular and not be misunderstood, nor could I go to the 22nd century and use it and not be misunderstood. Quit acting like English is some static thing that hasn’t changed.
