It reads like they have their family held hostage.
This is a few days after they hired a lawyer. I’m guessing they were told they either spend a million dollars fighting this in court or shutdown their website.
They settled for 2.4 million dollars

Piracy of content “owned” by companies who act in bad faith is not an option it is an obligation.
Nintendo, Sony, Disney, Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, etc have all done their best to make the industries in which they operate significantly worse for both consumers and competitors.
This is a huge shame. Both of these projects were exceptional preservation efforts.
