Supporting open source projects by small teams has been the only good thing MS has ever done. Imagine if MS would even partly open sourced part of windows. Yeah it’s depressing. The individual steps, like getting money out of politics and getting money out of media (turning news papers and social media into co-ops that do not have an owner besides the workers and the users) and general wealth distribution are pretty clear. But you need the military to effect a regime change or coup.
But the fundamental problem is seemingly never spoken about: People who only seek power/wealth at the expense of anything else are statistically much more likely to reach the top. So there is a filter that leads to an elite that can attain and maintain power but has no skills or inclination to do good or ethical government. As a civilization we need to develop some kind of “antibody” to these mechanisms. Because we’ve seen the same things under any ideology or economic system. Something like sortition (random choosing of representatives).
To add, I’ve also recently asked ChatGPT about things like this and it gave some interesting info on projects although I have yet to follow up on them. I also believe that open source AI models can be used to create more transparency by analyzing tons of news sources and the identity of involved people and their financial links and possible biases or propaganda aims, and so create open databases of trustworthy sources and counter the terrible propaganda power of think tanks. Or in the future also evaluate if articles or comments are morally wrong or based narrow minded ideology or lack of mental infrastructure.
So I’m not quite ready to give up hope yet. But things will get worse in many parts of the world.

It seems you can run the full R1 on a 96GB ram gaming rig even without GPU. I have little practical experience because of my old PC but it seems both improvements to efficiency to run locally (at least for a group of people) and research about bias or poisoning is being done.

Well yeah moving channels would be kinda impossible. I imagine while designing the house you’d plan for the electrical wires and 3D print clean channels you can slide wires or flexible piping through. You could also have extra channels near the floor and in the middle and vertical channels.
This would really only be good for lightweight structures that don’t need much load bearing, like tiny houses or RVs or huts or bungalows. Maybe structures on house boats / catamarans.

Software tools (including LLMs) can scan large amounts of text. And there might be lots of cases that will be obvious once you look at all the pieces.
Personally I’m more interested in foam printing, which allows large scale plastic printing of insulated structures. For single story bungalows that should be just fine and transport of the building materials easy. Something like (recycled) PET foam printing should be possible. The printer would be more lightweight than concrete printing too. You could 3D print a clean circumference with PET filament first and then fill in with PET foam. Or you could have tool changing and mill down the irregular foam. And you can recycle the whole 3D print later too.

I’m just watching a video by Majority Report where he talks about the question “Why is democracy is good” which the Democrats sort of fucked up in the election. And he makes a pretty painful point that it’s a “show me, don’t tell me” question. If you live in a democracy and constantly exploited, overworked, fucked over, in terror of economic hardship or terror attacks, harassed by police, then what is the point? What is the benefit? I’m not making the point that democracy is bad, but that a shell of a democracy, a fake, is leading especially the “dirtbag left” to adopt a pretty hostile posture.
So what is the actual quality of life in China vs the USA? What are the actual material benefits looking at living in an apartment, working, raising children and living a peaceful life?

Of course China has massive problems and corruption and abuses. But there are a billion people there that were on a medieval level after WWII.
