Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Well played, Todd: You can see Skyrim, or at least its tallest mountain, from the edge of Oblivion RemasteredEnglish1·15 days agoI expect a good company to know and work with good tools, not cheap ones.
Then you’re incredibly naive and haven’t paid attention to the gaming industry these days.
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Well played, Todd: You can see Skyrim, or at least its tallest mountain, from the edge of Oblivion RemasteredEnglish1·16 days agoYou’ll expect it to always suck because you’re the consumer. UE has, since UE4, put itself in the position of being the number 1 go-to engine everyone thinks about when doing amazing visuals as easily and cheaply as possible. Even indie devs instantly think about Unreal when thinking about good looking graphics.
So yes, I blame the engine for making itself a cheap, lazy way of making great looking graphics, because it’s even effecting how GPU’s are being developed.
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Well played, Todd: You can see Skyrim, or at least its tallest mountain, from the edge of Oblivion RemasteredEnglish0·16 days agoThat’s Unreal Engine 5 for you. Expect anything made with UE5 to be this way.
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Well played, Todd: You can see Skyrim, or at least its tallest mountain, from the edge of Oblivion RemasteredEnglish3·16 days agoYes. You could already do that in the OG Oblivion. The regions of Tamriel were already mapped out.
In Skyrim you also have the chance to spot the Imperial capital. It exists as a low poly model in-game.

Humans are missing out.

An African colour or a European colour?
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•If you knew the internet was going to be shutdown, damaged, or colossally enshittified what software would you archive for use locally and use for a neighborhood/town mesh network? Why?21·23 days agoI don’t use Web apps/software to begin with, explicitly because I don’t live under the illusion that everything will somehow exists forever, exactly the way it is.
I’ve been homeless, so I know how it is to be an artist without being online all the time. If the tool you use needs to be always online for some reason (and it’s not specifically related to the Internet), it’s a bad and useless tool.
It’s the reason I’m not jumping on the Photopea train until they release a proper installable program.

Anyway…
One good turn deserves another. If others won’t follow because of good example, hopefully other countries will instead follow because of competition.

Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Elon Musk, Jack Dorsey Call For Abolition Of All Intellectual Property Laws, Arguing There Are 'Much Greater Models To Pay Creators'English21·26 days agoLike, I agree. But we all know that he’s not saying this out of the goodness of his heart. Completely removing any sort of IP laws right now would mean tech billionaires like him get free reign training AI models… And more importantly, making money with AI models.

I hate using such terms as “boomer”, but how else am I going to describe this?
I’m in Denmark, and I can just about get by on one job. I have friends from America struggling to make ends meet, and they’re working TWO jobs!
So the fuck is this guy talking about!?
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•How Do You Go About Buying Stuff Online While Avoiding Amazon?4·27 days agoDenmark has Pricerunner. When buying electronics I can find many different types of local dealers and suppliers.
Second hand can be gotten through Den Blå Avis (dba.dk. Essentially translates to “The Blue Pages”).
Clothing has various online solutions as well, but it’s also easy to just hop onto a bike and cycle to the nearest shopping centre. I live in Copenhagen, so there’s also train and metro, but I prefer biking.
When it comes to food, I only ever order food online through Too Good To Go. Recently got a large breakfast cereal box through TGTG.
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Dune Awakening shares new screenshots and confirms the ever-present threat of the Sardaukar | Massively OverpoweredEnglish1·27 days agoUnless I’m mistaken, this game should basically be Conan Exiles but Dune (hopefully with improvements over Conan Exiles).
If this is indeed correct, then it should be possible to play the game offline single player, or set up your own server to play with your friends.
Instant paradox. XD
Take your upvote and fuck off. >:V
Tattorack@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Jack Dorsey and Elon Musk would like to ‘delete all IP law’English9·28 days agoThe population is, just as much as you are the populations. The benefit of living in a society must be a two way street, but long gone are the days where honest work earns you an honest living.
I’m not against violence as a solution. It just shouldn’t be the first solution you come up with, or the second… Or the third.
Violence as a solution is a last resort.
My question is when workers in game studios start to make unions. It’s a massive industry and the people actually making the games are constantly fucked over.
