dohpaz42@lemmy.worldto Lemmy.World Announcements@lemmy.world•Lemmy needs more donationsEnglish74·10 days agopart of those donations go to lemmy.ml’s server upkeep
If that’s true, that’s misappropriating the donations being that they’re billed as supporting development. Server maintenance and upkeep is important, but do not mislead your benefactors to do so, lest you destroy their trust and stop donating to your cause.
I would like it if both @nutomic@lemmy.ml and @dessalines@lemmy.ml could confirm or put to rest if this is true.
Edit: a couple of users pointed out that lemmy.ml is used as a test bed for lemmy development. This is good info, and not something I, personally, was aware of.

dohpaz42@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Mark Zuckerberg personally lost the Facebook antitrust caseEnglish1·25 days agoI’m not implying anything. I’m outright saying that the US government is corrupt enough to take kickbacks by corporations for political favors. I’m also saying Zuck didn’t bribe Trump’s admin enough (i.e. donations to his inaugural fund) to get away with their bullshit.

At least you’re not lactose intolerant; otherwise the milk would be giving you diarrhea instead. 🤢
This? I might have to go watch this episode.
dohpaz42@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Mark Zuckerberg personally lost the Facebook antitrust caseEnglish1944·26 days agoThe only crime he committed was not bribing the Trump administration enough to stay off the anti-trust radar. I hope they burn it all to the ground.
Looks like !tenforward@lemmy.world is leaking again.
dohpaz42@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•CVE Board members launch the CVE Foundation, a dedicated, non-profit to continue identifying vulnerabilities, after the US ended its contract with MitreEnglish3·28 days agoDistribution, decentralization… those ideas only serve to add unnecessary complexity to a sensitive and critical infrastructure. Instead of tweeting the baby with the bathwater, let’s work toward making these institutions not rely on or be beholden to governments. Anything else is a poor man’s Band-Aid to the problem.
FWIW, I agree with your concerns, but not the proposed solutions. Regardless, these are the types of discussions we all should be having for our critical infrastructure.
Who did you piss off? 😳
dohpaz42@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•CVE Board members launch the CVE Foundation, a dedicated, non-profit to continue identifying vulnerabilities, after the US ended its contract with MitreEnglish441·28 days agoDecentralizing a foundation such as CVE would do more harm than good. For things like git or the fediverse it makes perfect sense, but the last thing I want something like the CVE to be is fragmented. We need a single source of truth for this.
Now setting up a non-profit foundation and cutting dependence with governments is a good thing, but it’s not the same as decentralized.
As someone who has had a vasectomy, can confirm. What they do is to disable the sperm making, while leaving pee storage intact, by only cutting the spermtube.
Edit: speeling

What @lowleekun@ani.social is saying is that no one sees themselves as the bad guy, regardless of what their opponents think.

Maybe it’s just me, but I’ve never before seen mention of this; this is the type of stuff that should be mentioned in blurbs like the one above. People who are not aware of lemmy.ml being a test server may find it off putting otherwise.
