elena@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Did you know? Lemmy instances with *key instances!English2·1 month agoFYI I wrote a blog post doing a show and tell of Sharkey (a fork of Misskey) in December: https://news.elenarossini.com/sharkey-a-fediverse-project-that-is-beautiful-inside-out/ 🤗
elena@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•What are Misskey and its forks (*key)? A brief overviewEnglish3·1 month agoFor people interested in seeing a *key software in action, I’ve written a blog post about Sharkey in December: https://news.elenarossini.com/sharkey-a-fediverse-project-that-is-beautiful-inside-out/
This is wonderful, thank you so much!
I’ve been holding off from switching to Android (and getting a GrapheneOS x Pixel phone) because I have 5 years’ worth of messages on Signal on my iPhone… I’ll look into this method for sure
Oooh interesting! Could you please elaborate / share any resources about this?
elena@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•How have existing Pixelfed servers handled the increased load?English4·4 months agoI’m now hosting my own Pixelfed instance (as of Tuesday). I really like being in charge of my own server…
The drawback I’m seeing is that Explore and search sometimes yield no results.
Like searching for “Nikon” just now results in “no content found” 🤷🏻♀️

**Calckey.world **is a Sharkey instance (a fork of MissKey). I LOVE IT SO MUCH, it’s my favorite Fediverse software so far… I’m planning to write about it soon for my blog.
Yeah DeepL is NOT part of the Fediverse - I used it to translate a comment from Portuguese to English. Still my favorite online translator but my husband also uses ChatGPT for those purposes and I’ve been really impressed by its quality, too.
Loops.video just launched - it’s the Fediverse’s answer to TikTok by the creator of Pixelfed, FediDB, etc. It’s not active yet, for now you can register your username, but Dan has yet to onboard users. I believe he said he needs to upgrade to a new server because of all the sign-ups.
Linux phone: yeah, I cannot wait to build one. Definitely my goal for next year - as well as a Linux computer :)
Hello! Apologies for the belated reply but I was out of town and offline most of the weekend. Yes I’m seeing this in Lemmy too (and Mastodon). Gotta check PieFed now :)
elena@lemmy.worldOPto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy interoperability with other Fediverse projectsEnglish2·9 months agoone more interoperability test, this time from Lemmy.world to a self-hosted new Friendica instance. Hello @jerry@my-place.social - let me know if you get this! 👋

elena@lemmy.worldto Fediverse@lemmy.world•The Future is Federated: a Show and Tell (part 4: Lemmy, PieFed & Mbin)English10·9 months agoOriginal article author here 👋🏼 thank you for posting the link to it @Ludrol@szmer.info - I was afraid what the reactions may be 😅
I’m writing this from the iOS app Voyager - interestingly, I didn’t get any notifications about the mention (my Lemmy username) but found the post organically because I follow the Fediverse community.
After a day of testimonies (from users on Lemmy, Mbin, Mastodon and Friendica) I am now determined to write a follow-up post with more interoperability tests.
I realize some of the problems I encountered - federation-wise - may be due to the particular instances I was using (on Lemmy and Friendica for example) not the software, so I’m going to create new accounts on other instances and try out interoperability again.
By the end of this I may find myself with a dozen Fediverse accounts LOL 😅
Thank you again for the great feedback and tips, I really appreciate 🙏

elena@lemmy.worldOPto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy interoperability with other Fediverse projectsEnglish3·9 months agoI’m holding out hope that one single Fediverse identity will be a possibility in the future. Discussion here: https://thenewstack.io/one-login-towards-a-single-fediverse-identity-on-activitypub/
elena@lemmy.worldOPto Fediverse@lemmy.world•Lemmy interoperability with other Fediverse projectsEnglish8·9 months agoThank you for the explanation! Follow-up question: if you follow a Lemmy community in Mastodon, do you feel like your feed is filled with messages from that community? Like, does it get noisy fast? (But I’m thinking if they show up as boosts I could simply filter out boosts in my Ivory app)…
thank you! I’m so pleased to hear that ☺️
