Normal? Yes, it’s pretty normal and common. Is it logical? No, not really. But is it actually unhealthy? Yes, yes it is.

kerrigan778@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What are some slow acting poisons?1·2 months agoCyanide is legendarily fast acting. Among the fastest known poisons.
kerrigan778@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•What are some slow acting poisons?4·2 months agoThallium was pretty famous for this until its mechanism of toxicity and antidotes were better understood. Slow acting, tasteless, odorless, colorless, symptoms weird and mimic other things. Used to be used for rat poison but the risk of accidental exposure was too high. Requires late 1800s technology.

(Netherlands are currently onboarded)English32·2 months agoI was going to make a joke but honestly it’s refreshing and a good sign that Lemmy is starting to get used by people who don’t know what FOSS means now. Welcome.

Alaska has a lot more in common with the Yukon and Northwest Territories too than they do with southern red states.
kerrigan778@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•Baldur's Gate 3 and Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 show that the future of RPGs is in games way more ambitious, weird and unexpected than anything Bethesda and Bioware have to offerEnglish16·2 months agoNo, stop, let us have single player games, with 100-10000 players in an MMORPG you are suddenly diluted and weak, your ability to influence the world and be heroic and become powerful is suddenly dependent on competing for time investment and skill with 100s to 1000s of other people. THATS WHAT I ALREADY DO IN REAL LIFE. If I want to feel mid and not very powerful without putting in a ton of extra work, I’ll go outside. Especially when doing that extra work would actually allow me to spend EVEN LESS TIME on myself in the real world.
TLDR: there are enough MMOs, there are DEFINITELY enough competitive multiplayer games (also PVM/P survival building games) I do not understand people’s obsessions with saying the very small number of great single player games we have ought to be MMOs. Go play ESO or whatever it is you guys like playing.

I’ve never entirely understood the need for disposable intermediaries. Blowing my nose Kleenex or not without washing my hands afterwards seems unsanitary so why add waste?
