right before the used car market exploded i got my manual Subaru for $3400 when it was worth about 10-12k because of a misfire. yeah it just had the wrong spark plugs in it :p and it’s about as dumb as they come. it has a radio, abs, and cruise control - no other driving assists or telemetry

yeah it’s pretty absurd that you can buy a phone with only 2 years of security updates. what are you going to do after those 2 years? use a device with security vulnerabilities that holds all your personal data? and then these companies make it impossible to root the phone and prolong it’s life.
my last phone was a zenfone. asus had a bootloader unlock tool on their website when i bought the phone. shortly after they took down the servers that were serving this unlock tool thereby revoking the ability to root their phones. with no more official security updates the phone was essentially ewaste :/
