vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.worksto Games@sh.itjust.works•Evil Dead: The Game is now, ironically, a literal dead game as its developer removes it from saleEnglish91·2 months ago4v1 asymetrical has long ago ruined any chances of a legacy franchise horror game.
I hate this style of gameplay. It encourages min/maxing, griefing and requires YouTube strat watching. I am too old for all that shit. I just want to play a decently made (quality here can match the movies honestly) b-tier game in these worlds I grew up loving. Instead, I try these things at launch when they’re buggy but still have some equality as the player base hasn’t gone full toxic and then by the time they’re patched and stable, its full of sweats or dead.
By now we’ve burned through Evil Dead, Killer Klowns, Texas Chainsaw and Friday the 13th chasing Dead by Daylight money.
What a fucking waste of dev resources. All it’s done is make each and everyone of those potentially great franchises for story telling appear too unprofitable for suits to jump in again…likely never on some of them.

The PC / meatbag is a generic or, fuck it, a Apex bro/sis, and their ult is a Titanfall. Add some leveled / unique loadout options like 1 to the focused classes of 2 and its an easy win.
At least it is for this nerd on the internet who knows fuck all about VG development and mainstream gaming habits in 2025.

vulgarcynic@sh.itjust.worksto PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered on SteamEnglish41·2 months agoThis game is a technical mess. Oblivion is top 3 of all time for me. I’m the target audience for a litany of reasons, yet I refunded it after 3 hours.
It runs like shit on everything. Windows? Check. Linux? Check. Steam Deck? Check. GeforceNow? Check.
As soon as you leave the prison it all falls apart. Hopefully the next few months of patching can salvage it. I’ll keep an eye on reports. Until then though, the console versions seem to be the only way it’s worth trying to run this release.
Specs for anyone interested:
PC running Win 11 23h2 and PopOS - Ryzen 5900x, 5080FE
Laptop Running 24h2 and Mint Ryzen 7945HX, 4080
Both of those should be able to run this game at 240 1080p, 120 2k or 60 4k and unfortunately none of that happens. Its just a see saw of random drops and stutters not matter what settings I use.

nm, realized which sub this was. Black screens aren’t a problem on Linux… Yet.

I played untold hours of tfc. It is likely what made me a intellimouse fan (thumb buttons for both grenade types?! It was the future).
I truly miss conc grenades. There has never been a more versatile weapon in a game.

Tried with wired and wireless controllers, Steam and GOG. It was made in that era where there was no common PC controller drivers. Mouse control is pretty jumpy as well.
That said, fantastic game if you can get over the humps. There’s a few good mods as well to update some of the jank.

Lived in a place that had a koi pond and waterfall fountain years ago. I placed a small adventurer and treasure chest behind it. Wonder if it’s still there.

Instead of enemies being empowered, Wonder Woman would befriend NPCs.
Damn, as someone who likes a good, getting cats out of trees, talking to the goblins that took over your house, NPC helping time, this bums me out.
It was surprisingly good. Not life changing but they had some messages and themes that they wanted to convey and did so pretty damn well.
Gets a little ahead of itself in moments but honestly, there are tons of far worse films released every year.
