In a long overdue ruling, the FAA will no longer require airlines to be able to turn off the "no smoking" sign on aircraft.

    Ok, but why have the signs at all if no smoking is permitted? I get that when no smoking was being phased in to have the sign, but it has been over 20 years. Get rid of the sign all together

      I was curious about this as well, and according to a quick search, the signs are still in place due to a handful of international airlines that still allow smoking.
