I have the latest kubuntu 24.10 and my TV is reporting that it is being sent a HDR10 signal.

Is there a way to manually switch it to connect using Dolby Vision?

My Apple TV 4k connects using Dolby Vision.

(I want to play Dolby Vision files without tone mapping, since my TV supports DV.)

    Thanks!

I’m already using Jellyfin, and it’s the Jellyfin Media Player app that is playing the file.

I’m using pipewire to handle a surround sound setup, since I don’t have a separate receiver, and just got a TV supporting HDR.

I’d use the Apple TV… But that doesn’t handle the sound without a passthrough receiver. 😅

Ah well, I was hoping to avoid having to buy a receiver, but maybe that’s just what I need to do…

Ah. That makes it a little more complicated, of course. Otherwise, I‘d have suggested getting an old second hand 5.1 audio receiver with S/PDIF input and using your TVs digital output (or an HDMI audio extractor if it doesn’t have one) to get the signal to your speakers. Receivers like that are usually very cheap. I’ve seen them go for less than 10€ in perfectly working condition.

But good that there’s a solution to get DV working. The Linux community never seizes to amaze me. Good luck implementing it.
