I continue to be surprised by BattleMage. This looks like where you probably want to go if you’re interested in having open source drivers with a pretty decent GPU.
It seems to have a lot of issues on Linux though. AMD is still the king on Linux if you want open source drivers and a decent GPU.
Yeah, that’s what I’m running on Linux. But this seems to have some promise.
Oh, it has promise for sure. I hope all the kinks get worked out.
Really impressive what a $219 and $249 card can do against cards that cost $50-150 more. It’s basically stomping the 4060 for $50 cheaper in most tests.
I’m assuming the price is lower just to gain some loyal customers. It’s a tried and true strategy. If they were in the same position as Nvidia they would absolutely charge you like Nvidia is doing.
Oh absolutely, but it’s good to see competition.
Its Linux performance leaves a lot to be desired… not even close to the 4060 on Linux
I thought Phoronix tested it and find it to be pretty good?
It’s much slower on Linux vs Windows gaming for everything but OpenGL

I’ve also seen several reports of game crashes and major artifacts. AMD cards are way better on Linux.
