The only reason I think case-insensitivity is a good idea is to conditionally improve compatibility with Windows stuff when needed on a per-directory level (though I think Wine handles this fairly well already - maybe at a performance cost?). I wonder if it’s that’s even a problem nowadays, in which case yeah this should exist at all.
I don’t think Unicode belongs in file names either.
