I mean, LTS kernels exist. Some of the most popular Linux Distros in the enterprise should be considered legacy.
Absolutely. If it’s not exposed outside the LAN, and it’s serving some service internally that’s functioning perfectly well, there’s little reason to upgrade.
It’s a modern OS, but it’s legacy too.
It’s just their way of saying
“You need to keep your bloated system updated, which will require you to buy new hardware every few years. Anything else is old.”
