I don’t know what kind of game this is. In my region, they were selling Pokemon cards everywhere. They were in opaque bags and it was great luck if you got a card with a rare Pokemon.
We exchanged duplicate cards for those that we do not have in our collection. Some guys imagined a Pokemon battle and argued about whose Pokemon won. 😅
There were also game pieces that had to be hit on a flat surface, and if they turned over to the other side, then you took yours and your opponent’s piece for yourself.

HeartGold and SoulSilver improved upon gen 2 in almost every way while staying faithful to the originals. For me those are the perfect Pokemon games.
I agree with you on that. HGSS was major improvement on GSC. Plus, it had a pedometer lol
But GSC honestly scratches that itch I get for classic Pokemon in every way. I missed out on the physical/special split so it took me a while to adjust once I started playing Gen 4-6 (haven’t played past 6).
In short, New Coke might be objectively better, but it’s not Coca-Cola Classic lol
They over nerfed Whitney’s miltank.

Silver is the best one, but I’ll allow it
Emerald was my other favorite
I dunno
I really enjoyed spending thousands of hours in Pokemon Pearl/Diamond mostly cause of the underground and pokemon contests
personal highlights:
- base building
- fossil/plate/item hunting
- poffin making(after I got better at not burning the damn things)
- biking around and enjoying the scenery
Also I adore the entire Mystery Dungeon series from the Pokemon collection!💖
I’m still salty they removed the base building from BD/SP, it made the underground feel more personal/less grindy than what we got (and the fact that they didn’t include the platinum e extra content in the remakes)
Pokémon Colosseum was the best one for me. Followed by Pokémon XD Gale of Darkness, Pokémon Legends Arceus, Pokémon Conquest, Pokémon Go, Pokémon Blue, and this if it ever becomes a thing.
I had gold my sister silver and my cousin crystal.
I was jealous of the extra stuff he could get.
I’ve never played it, however gold was the best in my opinion and this was better in my head so i agree.
Followed by fire red
Crystal was my first Pokémon game! I loved it.
Ah, early 30s American or late 20s European?
Other: Pokemon Sword has been my favorite so far followed by Emerald and Platinum.
Sword is the newest I’ve played. I thought it was cool, and loved the outfits. But I found the puzzles to be a bit too easy.
I missed all the games between Platinum and Sword so I found a lot of it fairly challenging* at first even if the game is a straight line. My favorite part was Pokemon that previously needed to be traded to obtain could be found in the game.
*no battle items, battle type set, no legendaries, pokemon must be similar or lower level to gym as my rule set
That straight line thing really frustrated me, one of the things that I loved about Pokémon as a kid was going one route, noticing somewhere I can’t get to due to lack of HM then exploring the map again much later discovering all these little secrets. It made the world feel just that little bit more like there’s still something to discover.
