I bought some leggins for running, cycling, stretching… for winter (sale) and summer.

The summer ones have some translucent bits on the back side of both knees.

There are other summer leggings, completely closed from the same brand that I didn’t buy because to me those bits are well placed to get rid of moisture, and are more expensive than the completely closed ones. Maybe the seller used my naivete to convince me to buy the ones with translucent bits?

So, fashion or function? because to me the completely closed ones are more fashionable.

The closed ones are cheaper than the ones with bits, so I assume the ones with bits are better

One might say both. They may be useful for skin breathability reasons, but even if their purpose is aesthetic, an aesthetic outfit can really get you in the mood and motivated to work out. The purpose will be served regardless 😌

Have to imagine it’s because behind the knee can get sweaty working out and it lets it breathe

Regardless of whether they actually keep you cooler, the translucent panels make you look like someone who’s serious about their exercise, so from that point of view it’s a fashion plus.

Plain leggings are a muted background for the rest of your outfit, so they might work better when you just want to hang around being beautiful, and frankly you could buy a cheaper brand for that.
