It’s about as “abusive” as using a laser pointer to play with your cat. A behaviour I personally find repugnant, but one enjoyed by cat owners the world over.
I’m curious, why do you fund it repugnant?

You might get the impression that we are lol
A vegan bot; now I’ve seen it all.
Yeah. Peggy Hill. She did a few videos before realizing it was for a fetish website. Hank was not amused.
“The owner of Elon Musk’s X Corp headquarters in San Francisco has dismissed a lawsuit that accused the social media platform of missing monthly rent payments totaling millions of dollars.”

The email service says it was unable to appeal a Swiss court’s demand to log the IP address of a French climate advocate.
This weekend, news broke that the anonymous email service ProtonMail turned over a French climate activist’s IP address and browser fingerprint to Swiss authorities. The move seemed to contradict the company’s own privacy-focused policies, which as recently as last week stated, “By default, we do not keep any IP logs which can be linked to your anonymous email account.”
Edit: formatting
It’s probably tight enough for your needs. Unless you live in Switzerland or are breaking Swiss law, they’d need a really good reason to send your data anywhere.
Unless you’re a climate activist in France:

“Age restriction should be 25. lmao”
I didn’t realize they even had freedom of speech in China.
That sucks. Thanks for the info.
Did he end up getting his account back?

They weren’t “deplatformed” they were told that their illegal content was not welcome in this server instance.
You’re new so I get that you might not understand how Lemmy works, but there are many servers that share conversations with eachother. If one server is tired of having to moderate illegal activity then they will “defederate” with the offending server and not show their content on their server. They are nit being deplatformed, they are being shown the door because they refuse to moderate their own server.
Hate speech is illegal in some countries, incitement of violence illegal in many more countries, and hosting said content could cause legal trouble for the federated server’s administrators.
They’re not being deplatformed, they’re being told that they’re not welcome at this party and need to stick to their own hate filled parties.
No, the admins on Lemmy.world are tired of having to moderate hate speech and other violations of their code of conduct. You’re welcome to view that on the other instances if that’s your thing.
You’re always welcome to visit that instance directly if you want “entertainment.”
Interesting. I never thought about it that way.
Do they get depressed when they can’t “catch” the dot? I’ve heard that can be an issue with long term usage. I don’t know if it’s true though.
