If you set up Jellyfin plus Tailscale VPN, you can access your media server on your phone while you’re on the go. It’s a little confusing to set up, but once you figure it out, it’s amazing. Happy to offer some guidance if you get stuck
I see this argument a lot, and I’m sure you’re right, but I was curious, why don’t people set up a url for jellyfin that your family can access over the internet, then they just have to go to a website and log in? Would work for TVs or any device that connects to the internet
I recently cut most of mine. Don’t miss them as much as I thought.
The irony is this article requires a subscription to view it…
The music industry and how the money works now are fundamentally different than how it was back then so keep that in mind while you’re wearing the tinfoil hat
There’s protest music, but it’s also different than back then. Now most of it exists in the more marginalized communities like the queer or poc space, as opposed to the mostly white hippie movement for example
One bigger name that comes to mind now is Kendrick Lamar.

It’s easy to get stuck in a music bubble. You have to work to find new music.
I’ll fight you
Off the Florida keys!
I believe in internet piracy
My app was written in one line: yarn run dev.
Ratio.
Also lol at using 4chan as your example of how to run a site
Lemmy world clearly stated that they were not a “free speech” zone, that they would have rules, you joined anyway
They say they they wrote it in 10k lines, while twitter was 1M, but are they including all the packages they’re using (assuming that they are)? Like I can say I built a website with 100 lines, but in reality if you compile all the packages I’m using it’s a shit ton more than that.
Just a lazy thought out loud. Idk I’m probably being dumb
Bro the fuck YOU talking about?
What would convince anyone to blindly accept liability for 100k users on a volunteer basis? If you owned the servers and your name was on the line, would you feel comfortable hosting “ambiguous” (your words) material?
Your tone echos the people that yell at FOSS devs on GitHub. You are the entitled one. It’s hilarious, you think you’re entitled to random people accepting liability on your behalf.
“Here” should be the fediverse, not all in lemmy.world. Ask yourself why the lemmy.world volunteers should accept liability blindly? They are responsible for what goes on in their servers. If you want to make your own rules, literally go and start your own instance… I’m sure when it’s your name on the hook you’ll be fine with “anything goes” on your server.
Corpos can’t monetize it as easily as they can with lgbqt
I’m not a war hawk at all, and I used to have a similar viewpoint as you, but I’ve realized that all it takes is one crazy person with power to prove this whole idea completely naive and ignorant. Look at the Ukraine war and Putin for example.
Thanks. This is great insight and tracks with some personal experience or experience of friends.
You could make a whole post about this topic, but I was curious what’s your advice to an employee that wants to do good work, but who doesn’t want to be taken advantage of?
Can you please elaborate on your experience of HR people deciding the results before the evaluation? Just curious
