I have a 7800xt like you and bought it a week after it launched, I had a distro based on Ubuntu with xanmod kernel and Mesa from oibaf PPA So after I plugged in the GPU, I had to download the latest firmware.git and extract it on the right path, after this I just rebooted and everything was working good.

Radv is usually faster than amdvlk Except some edge case like ray tracing or some engine, you will get better performance with Mesa radv

You can even have both of them installed and use amdvlk only for games that works better there, but really they are not too many. These are some Phoronix tests on the matter if you want to check them out. ^^

yes you can use them with two different cables on the 12v rail. It’s not a problem. But be careful when buying cables for modular PSU online, just buy from the producer.

I played for a lot of time Elder Scrolls Online on linux without any problems (except some addons) but in generally it works really well, without performance problems or something else. I used the official launcher with lutris and had a lot of good time playing it.

You can try to use gamescope for that. Really useful for games that crash alt-tabbing

I hate it I try to always avoid always online drm but sometimes it’s really impossible, i’m gonna be honest and say that i got some issue with my steamdeck for them. (f u ubisoft btw) So if i find that a singleplayer game needs an always online drm i just don’t buy it.
