I’m OK with actual honest to goodness videos on lemmy generally. It’s those fucking gifs that drive me up the fucking wall. Gifs should be banned from lemmy, they’re so heavily abused. 3 out of 4 “video” posts is actually just a 100mb+ gif. Use any fucking thing other than gifs. Fuck gifs. If I had a time machine I would go back in time just to prevent gifs from getting invented just so people would stop posting 1 minute long gifs all over lemmy. In fact, maybe I should plot and scheme to sneak the removal of gif support from the lemmy software git repo somehow the same way hackers got that ssh virus in.

Fuck gifs. Everyone needs to stop choosing to use them instead of any other format. Literally anything else would be better. Even drawing a representation of what happened in crayon would be better than posting a gif. If videos are too complicated to figure out you need to be posting a picture or maybe just go outside. Fuck.

Delaying pc release that fucking long. What consoles are they even trying to force people to buy? Consoles have become kind of a niche thing, now everyone has macbooks and pcs. Nvidia graphics cards have replaced the console pyramid scheme. Will Nvidia even allow them to do this? They develop the game on pc for fuck sake.

If I play the game at all I’m pirating it. There is no acceptable reason to release the pc version 18 months after the console version. Are there even going to BE any consoles out in 2026 that can run the game?

To me, Godot is the only game engine I would ever consider using. Unity is bad because you never know what shitty stuff they’ll do next. Unreal probably doesn’t work on Linux and unreal script sounds like a terrible idea. If I had to figure out all those extremely difficult math problems like angular velocities, quaternion math, rotation matrices and shit in an obscure programming language, I would stop to rethink my life choices. It’s already hard enough doing this in more widely used established languages even with decades of stackoverflow posts available.

Besides Godot, you can always make your own. Use a graphics library like orge or Irrlicht, a physics engine (reactphysics3d for example), something for sound like openAL and once you get them all glued together, you have a game engine.

Community college is a joke. So are all the other types. Most of the stuff they make you do only serves to waste your time and get you used to working long hours on stupid bullshit. That’s what employers want them to do. Non-community colleges are like that but worse. In my experience, at community colleges only around 1 in 4 classes is impossible without cheating or being a hyper intelligent academic athlete (but of those 1 in 4 classes, they don’t always have very strong anti cheating defenses). At normal colleges its usually even more unfair and unreasonable than that. I’d say only 25% to 50% of them were “unreasonably difficult” except they were extra strategic about it. They’d make it so classes with high fail rates were only taught by the same professor and no one else ever so there was no way you’d ever get around one you couldn’t pass at first.

I just want computer parts to stop being so expensive. Remember when gaming was cheap? Pepperidge farm remembers. You used to be able to build a relatively high end pc for less than the average dogshit Walmart laptop.

Honestly, if this somehow results in regulators being like “fuck it, piracy is legal now” it won’t negatively impact me in any way…

Corporations have abused copyright law for decades, they’ve ruined the internet, they’ve ruined media, they’ve ruined video games. I want them to lose more than anything else.

One of the few things they’re good at is academic “cheating”. I’m not a fan of how the education industry has become a massive pyramid scheme intended to force as many people into debt as possible, so I see ai as the lesser evil and a way to fight back.

Obviously no one is using ai to successfully do graduate research or anything, I’m just talking about how they take boring easy subjects and load you up with pointless homework and assignments so waste your time rather than learn anything. My homework is obviously ai generated and there’s a lot of it. I’m using every resource available to get by.

Cool, if they’re cutting stuff out and selling factories, their days are numbered. Good riddance. That’s what you get for selling everyone the same fucking cpu from about 2010-2020, only bothering to change the pin counts just to sell more motherboards.

If you use ublock origin and watch a lot, they’ll eventually put your ip address on a list where you have to log in to watch anything. Newpipe seems to be able to circumvent this but yt-dlp can’t. I haven’t tried freetube but maybe freetube can circumvent that.

Here in America, people will pay $1000, sometimes more for basically the same thing except a little thinner. There’s no incentive to make better laptops because “crappy specs except a little thinner” is what sells. It makes it hard to find actually good laptops without paying an absolute fortune.
