That’s a fair interpretation. My point was to illustrate that the goal of Buddhism isn’t to achieve happiness, but rather a practice to observe “truth” and the “source” of all things. This has the benefit, in my experience, of managing unnecessary suffering.
I think Buddhism acknowledges everything is suffering (sangai kaiku - zen)

For what it’s worth, I find that the bad trips are the most beneficial. They’re a manifestation of problems often ignored, displayed in a way that is highly symbolic.
