By my understanding, 4chan left themselves vulnerable which, given the circles they foster, means they were going to be compromised. No fear of reprisal or consequence for it either. Not like when attacking a major corporation or government.

Add “liberal” or even “critical of the president” to that.
It should stipulate it has to come out of salaries of any above a certain threshold from the lowest paid full-time employee. No more run-away pay. If you want to get rich you gotta make sure the lowest down can at least afford to live.
Yup, I know it is impractical, not only that but because it is a digital recreation it will never be a completely truthful representation of anything. It was the same for film but the changes were understood and accepted. Doctored/manipulated images though were expected to be identified as such, for the most part.
Ideally photoshopped images should all be flagged as impractical as that might be.
If someone makes an ai clip of a politician saying something they didn’t should we believe it cause the ai was convincing enough?
Really photoshopped images meant to seem as real as possible should be flagged. It sounds ridiculous just because it has become the norm to accept them.
Similar experience for me. I was interested in the case at first cause I was hoping Billy Mitchell might face some consequences for his vexatious approach to litigation. Using threats of lawsuits to silence critics etc. But soon in it became clear to me that Jobst was using any excuse to make content, then padding out those videos with ads and petty attacks/lame jokes, all the while asking for more donations. I stopped watching early on.
Jobst was pleading for donations to help fight the lawsuit for a long time. Constantly making videos about it to get more viewers, sympathy and money. All to then run his mouth costing him the case.
Edit: Turns out Jobst was running his mouth the whole time. With so much donated money on the line, it was important to communicate the details of the case accurately but Jobst failed to do so. He made a lot content about it (monetized and sponsored) but was too arrogant about his chances of winning. IMO not as serious, careful or tactful as he should have been throughout.
Edit x2: Monday-morning lawyering from me but I stopped watching Jobst a long time ago because I just wasn’t on board.
Because greed allows us to ignore the fact we aren’t accounting for the limits of this planet. We get to use greed to justify complete moral abandon, which in today’s world can be really damaging. A few people are getting rich atm by tearing the world apart, it won’t lead to good things.
But our system isn’t designed to communicate the good around you to you, it’s the opposite pretty much. The good is there it just doesn’t brag, or shout or mock. It’s quiet but it spreads. But you know when is is gone. It is conspicuous in its absence
Sue the coup!
I was working with some younger people a few years back and one of them noticed that all of us from of a certain generation always slam the mouse down whenever we first use it. I explained it’s a reflex from when the wheels inside the mouse would get stuck with gunk and we would instinctively slam the mouse to get them free.
