Nightlys are not things you should recommend for production use. Especially for (potentially) non tech savvy teachers and students.

Actually while typing that out I thought more about the technical architecture of such distributed alternative streaming service that pays artists fairly, and it does sound like it could be fun to build.
But everyone in the fediverse already knows how difficult/impossible it is to get the average person to switch to open source software. It would most likely be a waste of time.
Because they have all the customers.
If you don’t like the rate the current major platforms give, you could choose to use one of the many alternatives that (presumably) exist.
And if they really don’t, I could build you one in a couple of weekends with all the open source resources and federation protocols available today.
But none of that matters because all the paying customers are on those major platforms. And until you convince users to move off those platforms, you’re basically their bitch. They’ll pay you whatever they happen to feel like paying you.
Just use Windows defender already. It’s been good enough for ages. All the others downplay this to justify their existence.
Yikes, people here are brutal to people with differing viewpoints, heh.
Doesn’t seem to matter how knowledgeable in the subject matter the person may be either.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Pretty close to hundred percent. Though, I work for Microsoft which is a bit biased.
However, if I was a billionaire, I would consider trying to build up the religious Left. Bear with me.
So, it turns out you don’t have to be a billionaire to make things happen. I can think of two ways a bunch of people on Lemmy can make a movement like this happen.
This will have to start very small, be funded through donations, and slowly grow by helping people in various ways, causing more people to join and expand. Like you mentioned, it will take a very long time to make a dent in Catholicism.
This is a lot easier than people think - we just need to figure out how do monetize this. Given how many private jets and other extravagances Christian evangelicals have, I suspect there could be enough money in religion - we’d have to discuss and work out how to get enough $$$ to make it worth their while without having hate as a core tenet of our religion.
This approach could have the advantage of multi-million dollar advertising budgets, lobbyists, and many other resources to have a much faster impact than the other approach.
Let me know if you’re up for discussing and fleshing out the details. I think it could be a fun exercise, and it might even lead somewhere in the future - I personally have a few contacts in high places in corporate America that will always listen to new business pitches 😉
Congrats. You won the genetic lottery and was awarded some top tier eyes.
A lot of people were not.
Because they don’t know better.
Seems to be somewhere between 0.5 and 0.7 billion, which due to a quirk of the English language are technicallybillions, making OP technically not wrong ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

That, and also because NYC has already banned right on red.
Oaf. Give your perspective for someone who asked for insight and immediately be told by people that your life/relationship is wrong.
I want to take a moment to just thanks for your reply with no judgement.
Halo!
The CE soundtrack was so distinctive and awesome!
Lol no it wouldn’t. The guy doesn’t want to commit resources to fight this, since it’s a hobby project and this sucked away his motivation to continue.
Unless y’all give him enough money to mount a legal defense, no amount of fancy tech will help.
While not exactly this situation, it has similar vibes to this: https://xkcd.com/538/
In my experience, it’s both. I’m watching a friend of mine go on the apps and she got over 2000 likes (I’m not even exaggerating) in a week. When she sorts through those she first reacts to the main photo, and then looks at their job, and the rest of the profile.
So in order to get matches as a guy, you need to have your life together with a stable job, an interesting personality you can somehow convey in a profile, and good enough looks for that to matter.
It’s because they’re a privately owned company.
The pressure for enshitification mostly comes from shareholders. Without them, the company can actually think about their long term future and decide exactly when and when not to increase profit.
I tend to avoid proprietary things whenever possible these days, but I found most things by small, privately owned companies are pretty good towards their users.
SOMEONE BUILT THIS, SO IT MUST LEAD SOMEWHERE
If you liked “It takes two”, you should absolutely play “A way out”!
It’s from the same developer and has a similar emphasis on co-op.
Are billionaires as much of a problem in China as they are in the west? I thought they already had way less, and the ones that do exist still have to bend over backwards to appease the CCP.
