I looked it up, Six Degrees of Separation was inspired from a real incident in the early 1980s. I was wondering why it felt like something from a decade earlier.

Copyright is whatever makes the wealthy wealthier. They’ll be copyright reform, but only to protect these new industries.
Wayne’s World was trying to recapture Mike Myers’ childhood in the 70s and early 80s. So doesn’t capture spirit of the 90s.
Biodome
Sadly this might be the most 90s of 90s movie. Others like Terminator are sequels, or movies like You’ve Got Mail are scripts written 10 years prior. Biodome is a time capsule of mid 1990s.
That’s the point.
Felt like it was from the 70s.
Along with Falling Down, watch Boyz n the Hood https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0101507/ and Juice https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0104573/
All really the same story of the grungy 1990s.
Falling Down captures the downturn in the economy of the 1990s and the grunge of it.
You’ve Got Mail almost feels like a 1980s movie.
Point Break or Speed
The Big Dig didn’t cost that much in the end … about 1/4 of what Musk paid for Twitter. If a billionaire could throw money away on a vanity social media project, than the government could spend a quarter of that on critical infrastructure.
The police know it is a machine gun, the police know that many bullets can be fired in a very short period of time. They know the bullets kill. Ban guns. If you want to hunt, use a bow, or don’t hunt.
1 extra year will help to see how the batteries actual perform. After 10 years a Tesla’s battery is under 80% of its original capacity, you’re at the point of losing 1/4, 25%, of range. Not sure how many fail completely.
I remember when corner stores rented DVDs, this could be another business for them. But…since they haven’t adopted it I guess it really isn’t that profitable. Power tool prices have come down in price and size.
Many neo-nazis used the BBS system to find each other. The funding model of direct email and such, that is used today, could probably be traced back to the early 1990s BBS forums. Scummy people have a way of finding each other.
allowed the village idiots to find each other and band together,
You can exploit them more if they are a mob.
youtube
Youtube is horrible in some respects for creating a false reality. Click on one video and down a rabbit hole you go, your stream gets filled very quickly of similar videos, but sketcher in content.
I don’t think that the Saudi prince or Chinese operative really care how the stock does. The problem is do you think you can short the Middle or China, or do you think that’ll they’ll keep dumping money in…since it’s pennies to them and they earn favor with potentially the next POTUS.
It’s like the 80s all over again; Neo-Nazi’s, bad adult VHS movies, drug epidemic, Trump.
Interesting that Point Break (1991) and The Matrix (1999) book ended the decade. Point Break focuses on white 20 something kids that dropped out and started surfing, the The Matrix focuses on a 30ish white guy going through an existential crisis. At the beginning of the 90s there was still some hope, that a person could find a small counter-culture and create if not a wealthy life, of something satisfying. By 1999 all hope was gone.
