This is genuinely so cool.

I’m not an audiologist but I go to a lot of shows and bars and I care about my hearing. I swear by Flare Earshades and I recommend them all the time.

I’ve tried Etymotics, Loops, Vibes, Earasers, and a couple other brands, and none of them have the clarity and quality of the Flares. I’ve worn them comfortably for 8 hours, and music sounds so good I forget I’m wearing them.

This is just my experience, and you’ll find lots of positive reviews for other brands, but I wanted to share mine.

Why is this bad? If people said, “Follow your dreams and they’ll always come true,” I’d disagree with that. But it doesn’t hurt to have goals and work towards them.

For spoken conversations, I think Pimsleur is great. I’ve used it for several international trips, and locals regularly asked if I lived there. What I like is that it 1. focuses on listening and understanding, 2. instructs you to learn first to pronounce words correctly and only to learn the spelling much later and 3. starts with the most useful phrases and develops from there. Instead of teaching you random vocab words like “milk” and “pants” the first phrase you learn is “I don’t understand Spanish.” It mixes in repetition and small changes in the just the right amounts so you learn actively instead of just memorizing. I love Pimsleur.

The UK episodes are 48 minutes long. I’ve only ever watched pirated versions, so I’m not sure about commercials. The “American editing” I’m referring to is the quick cuts and dramatic music. It also seems like the producers ask Gordon to play a short-fuse asshole. On the UK version there’s a lot of cheeky banter, and in general there’s not much animosity between Gordon and the owners.

For what it’s worth, the UK version of the show has a completely different vibe and I rewatch it frequently. Most of the restaurant owners mean well, and Gordon’s kind and patient with them. There are a few stubborn or delusional ones, but all the drama exists naturally without the breakneck American editing. Really a quality show.

For many people it’s the one day of the year they feel special. I think we all deserve that, and it costs me nothing to wish someone a happy birthday. That’s not to say I’m required to spend time or money on them, but it doesn’t bother me when all they want is a bit of recognition.

If I’m reading this right, you’re saying you’d understand if Huang sleeps soundly at night despite his wealth. I’ve made more money every year for 5-7 years, and I’ve never worried that I’ve become an out-of-touch rich person. For most people, becoming wealthy is gradual. And like you said, we can probably all look back at our past hardships and feel confident that we earned our paycheck.

You think she’s not handling fame well because she’s setting clear boundaries, and reminding fans that she’s not their friend just because she’s famous?

I like the idea of these, but I always have to keep mine hiked up for the pouch to get under my balls. And, the pouch somehow makes the tip of my penis pop out on a regular basis.
