I’m doing Game Dev with Rust (Godot + gdext in my case). Sadly it’s just hobby projects, but would love to actually use rust (at all) at work.

I choose Rust over other languages (C#, Python, GDScript, C++, etc), because I enjoy writing in Rust.

I love that it’s so concise and easy to read, while providing super useful errors at compile time, and great auto-completion thanks to the rust-analyzer. Despite it being a much more complicated languages than almost even C++, it provides so much useful information when writing/compiling, that running can be mostly taken for granted (but shouldn’t of course).

I don’t need to worry about types or pointers, but rather about writing what I want in Rust, which is simply too much fun.

At the gym I often sort the plates on the racks I take minr from (not only mine).

I do it mostly out of selfishness, since it bothers me a lot when they’re not sorted, but hey.

Immerese yourself into the language. Do everything in your power to convert your surroundings in such a way, that you’re forced to use the language:

• change your phone’s language
• join chatrooms, websites, gameservers, etc.
• do tandem
• watch shows/movies in that language
• read books, magazines, etc.
• practice grammar and extend your vocabulary

I’m going to cheat and say Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul.

So sad! I hope he’s doing well. Hopefully it is all just a temporary private matter and he might come back in the future.

UK layout is the GOAT. It isn’t that much different from US layout at first, but there are so many more special characters readily available. Particularly useful for multiple languages like Spanish, German, Swedish, etc.

gdext is only slowly being deloped since it only has 2 true core devs, despite having many contributors. That being said it’s already functional. It just doesn’t have all the features implemented yet. If you’re interested in using the project, and have rust knowledge consider contributing or supporting the project!

Oh, really? I never got to see that side of him thankfully). I don’t think he got any particular training though. He must’ve gotten the worlds filteres from amon his peers in the foundation. It’s a community effort in the end anyway.

Indeed. I also caught his personal gist with that last comment, and there seems to be lots of circle-jerking. I’m happy this community is not toxic (as far as I’ve experienced).
