  • lichess integration so every unresolvable argument can be decided by a chess duel. A bot reacts when it’s called by a command (plus arguments to customize the game) and drops a link (only OP can access and play, others join as spectators). Results are then posted as a reply. It’s not possible atm, but I guess lichess devs are based and won’t mind a little customization on their side for that silly matter. Federating with them would be a way to null many people’s bingo cards.

  • Deeper intergration with p2p file sharing\streaming-oriented sites and protocols, e.g. torrents, but decentralized too. Think like Blizzard with their p2p acceleration of downloads using other people’s downloaded game. Basically, making your own PC a source of content for those accesing instance. May probably ease traffic reqs for instances and make them more reliable under ddos.

Infrastructure for old-fashioned game servers’ communities, like those for Minecraft. Login with your fediverse account, one-click joining server, creating federated networks of them with theoretical migration of progress\playtime\achievements. It can make this way of multiplayer gaming convinient again. Yet again, it needs specifically tailored games\clients.

Mapping and geocaching communities. A network of overlaying local map-canvases that people can interact with by adding favorite routes, comments, points of interest.

  • They don’t have much power to down multiple places so they targeted one to show off, watch our reaction and see how vulnerabilities get fixed. It’s probably one person or a thread on some chan-board taking offense at LW\Lemmy for some reason, and c/shitposting could be taken by activity\moderators count metrics rather than for having something against it alone. They did damage and locked community, but what’s next? If they are indeed like old boards’ posters, methodically flooding communities one after another doesn’t make sense and gets old really quick if they can’t do something more atrocious, achieve new goal or find another exploit. That’s done already.

  • Subscribing to a multireddit as a community being implemented and promoted as a default experience may solve it. Idk if it should be on Lemmy’s or client’s side, but different communities forming a community-verse that’s subscribable with one tap is, for me, the next stage of fediverse. If they are federated and cache each other, it should be possible to form a united feed. Best case, if you can make just a link combining them into one, so it’s easy to share. It would fulfill this task without multiposting.

Browsing porn, for once, doesn’t really work for me. On Reddit, I did a multi of things I enjoy to combine them, and switch to it without changing accounts. Now I either browse All-feed of porno instance seeing things I’m not into or go to exact user or community. It’s far from what I enjoyed previously. And autorepost bots don’t help it too.

IDing and combining posts into one is not fixing the problem, but covering it under a rug. The best case is to eradicate the very need to post the same meme, article or nude into two communities and then ban spammy accs. At least that’s what I wish for.

  • I hear you.

I don’t know how new Excel performes and I thought it’s the same as ten years ago - the version I’m trapped in. With people who obsessively try to drive it to the edge where it’s not responsive on average office PCs.

But if it works well with various big spreadsheets now, it’s a wonder, with how many new people start to tackle programming with Python. I obiviosly won’t write a script faster than normal operational speeds of software, it’s just some tables ended up that big and broken I could only open them like that. But that, I guess, is exclusion?

It’s just the issue of people using a microscope as a hammer when they need to break nuts.
