Knowing then, they’d somehow force an ink subscription on the device.
The handheld stops working if you don’t have an active subscription for stupidly expensive HP brand screen wipes. This is marketed as being part of their eyesight protection feature.
The analog sticks have a set number of rotations after which they need to be replaced. Putting off brand analog sticks in the device will instantly brick it.
You couldn’t pay me to buy a HP device.
Funny coming from HP, who has poured billions into making their printing experience suck. Deliberately
Anyone remember the HP TouchPad with WebOS that they had to fire sale?
I remember.
Haven’t bought an HP device since I tried to upgrade the Wi-Fi on my laptop but there was a whitelist in the BIOS and that MF wouldn’t even boot.
Lenovo does that too (or did 10 years ago, I haven’t touched Lenovo since). There’s actually forums full of hackers that will add your MAC address prefix to a bios dump for you for a price
They no longer have a bios whitelist. But you can’t seem to install intel wifi cards on some of their amd laptops. They just straight up don’t show up in any os.

It is pretty cool to see SteamOS appear on 3rd party devices, regardless how we feel about HP.
It reminds me of the steam machines from over a decade ago
lol ok, but HP is still a bag of dicks
After switching from win10 to Bazzite, honestly the Linux experience is better for gaming. Incredibly smooth.
