There are dozens of amazing apps for Lemmy.
Whether you’re on a mobile device running Android or iOS, using a dedicated desktop app, or one of the great web apps, there are a lot to choose from. Some have been around for years and still see active development like Voyager or Lemmy UI (the default web app on most instances). Some are newer to the scene but have compelling features that make them appealing.
Some apps are blazing fast, some have personalized recommendations, some have an impeccable interface, some have advanced features for content moderation.
It’s tricky to know which apps are getting the most use, or what features you haven’t heard about. What are the thoughtful details you love in your top app? Feel free to tag the devs to show them some love!
Voyager, because it has the same or at least mostly the same ui as Apollo for Reddit.
I love Boost. I used it for Reddit.
The custom options are great.
But, if you want a fun “killer” feature… If you donate a little bit, there is an animated rocket that launches and flies through space…Fun!
I didn’t choose based on the app’s features.
I chose based on:
- how much data the app collects
- the size of the app
Voyager collected no data and occupied the least space back when I installed it.
I tried a few and settled on Arctic on iOS. It’s got a great interface that gets out of your way but is still feature rich including swipe actions on posts and comments and a solid push notification system, and the developer is super responsive to feedback, pushing new TestFlight builds consistently with both features and bug fixes. It’s not perfect (there’s a stubborn bug that jumps posts that pops up on and off throughout builds) but it’s the closest in feel to Apollo for me.
I’m using eternity because infinity was my Reddit client
Voyager on iOS for me. It’s free, got a ton of great features, is constantly updated, and reminds me of the days using Apollo.
Mlem for iOS is pretty good
I tried a few different ones when I first switched over. I’m currently using the paid version of sync, but I had to check which one I’m using because it kind of just fades into the background and puts the content in front.
I use Jerboa on Android. I prefer the simple, minimalist design/UI.
I went with jerboa because of no ads.
Im using the free version of boost, but theres a whole bunch of features that dont work (such as not being able to view saved or upvoted posts). The main thing I was looking for was a full page feature each post is a page that can be swiped to the right to view the next post.
Boost is awesome. If you can spare just a little $ it’s worth it to “launch the rocket”.
Boost. Keyword based filters.
Thunder, polished and highly Customizable.
My current favourite as well. Super slick “temporarily hide read posts” feature.
Primarily Boost, but also Raccoon. Unfortunately something has happened with the development of Raccoon and I am getting the feel that it is abandoned now.
Raccoon is still in active development, although it went through a change in leadership a while back. Still the same great team.
Recently there is no engagement in the community. May be it is all happening elsewhere. Previously the developers were actively engaging with the community and bug fixes were quick.
Sync. It’s free, it looks good, I can comment post and doomscroll
