Hilariously the thing that got me to go back to @firefox was Google making adblocking suck on chromium based browsers and trying to force their (repeatedly) spy-ware filled ads (particularly on youtube) to be displayed. Like you spent how many billions trying to make chrome “the thing” and now you are destroying any goodwill.
Hilariously? I feel like over half the current FF users are using it for the same reason as you.
Fuck Google
Yeah, I only made the switch 3 months ago for this reason. I don’t see how it is hilarious either.
Why is this “hilariously”? Isn’t that like…the whole point?
@totallynotarobot Google’s point w/ the adblocking changes was to drive everyone back to Firefox? Away from the browser they’ve spent billions on?
No, they know nobody but the tech savvy people care. I just saw someone watch a YouTube ad on their phone in real life
I know it’s close to Halloween but please use a spoiler tag or a trigger warning if you’re going to tell us such a terrifying story
I’m tech savvy and even I find installing YouTube Adblockers on phone too much if a hassle to be arsed to do it.
It’s a simple truth that the mobile experience is trash, while the PC experience is pretty decent and easy
You just install Firefox and get ublock origin on it. There’s no step 3

What are you talking about? You just go to the add-on page and click install

How is your experience with the gtk4 skin? I’ve used it for a bit around the time the switch to libadwaita happened, but for me the default firefox skin is better.

Who cares about looks? Function over form always. (edited)
I think you got the saying backwards
Whoops
Greedy Google billionaires think going to war against the people of earth is a good idea. I welcome this fight :)
Most of the people are dumb asf tho ;(
Just means we’re on equal footing with google. Let the chaos commence!
Does anyone know when the Manifest V3 transition is actually going to happen in Chrom* browsers? It seems like they’ve been trying to get this to land for 4-5 years at this point and the only thing I can find are timelines that have been invalidated.
The public still uses Chrome so it worked… :/
