Nicolas Galy, 40, died after being struck by the aircraft he had jumped out of seconds before.
Not to take away the horror of what happened to the skydiver, but can you imagine someone finding a random smashed and decapitated head on the ground? How would you even deal with that?
I would probably be calling emergency services while in shock, and then sit down somewhere and smoke a joint.
Edit: Love how someone downvotes me for knowing how I would react in this sort of situation. Like, what do you think I would do?
Went hiking with a friend, who told me to don’t come any closer and walk back the way we came. I know not to ask questions and once he has cell service, made a call to a non-emergency line.
He told me what he saw was “like a bunch of dead dogs in the woods”. Just him telling me that was causing me to shake and freak out. Whole he was calm and collected. Never bothered digging deeper. And a part of me believes that he didn’t see dead dogs, but lied to me to spare me the sight.
Can you elaborate? Did police come? Did you ever ask the friend what he saw? Why would there be a bunch of fresh dogs in the woods?
A dog fighting ring getting rid of the evidence or a shitty breeder getting rid of dogs that didn’t sell would be likely.
This is exactly what I did after witnessing a woman on a motorcycle smash into a pickup truck broadside. She wound up losing her leg.
A firefighter told me that one of his intervention was a motorcycle on the highway.
When the arrive someone was giving a heart massage to the driver on the ground, the driver had been beheaded by the guardrail. They were trying to reanimate a headless body.
It’s really hard to anticipate what people will do when in shock
Sounds like their training kicked-in in full force on that call.
How long ago was this? And are you doing alright?
Probably a decade or so. I’m fine for all intents and purposes, but it’s not something I’ll ever forget and smoking a J immediately after was probably pretty beneficial for any PTSD that might arise from the situation.
It would be worse if a tiktoker found it, as he would do a little dance with his head on the floor while playing some stupid music.
Then make a bunch of apology videos because it’s all content to these fucks.
Wake up Carlo!
Thankfully modern parachutes have an emergency altimeter that will deploy the reserve parachute (the backup one) if you’re too low and moving too fast. It’s more likely that there was a headless corpse gliding around for a while until he hit the ground or a wall
€20,000 fine and half of that is “suspended” (whatever that means). That’s rough that you literally get your head cut off, and that’s what it’s worth.
Unless the pilot did it on purpose or was negligent in some way, they shouldn’t be punished at all: It’s terrible, but the article isn’t very specific on how this happened in the first place.
According to Le Parisien, immediately after the drop, the pilot of the aircraft began its descent towards the aerodrome tarmac.
Before the skydiver jumped out of the aircraft, there was no consultation on the trajectory the plane would take, the paper said.
One of the parties can go up and down at will. The other can only fall. It’s absolutely the pilot’s fault.
Not really, this is standard practice for skydiving planes. The sooner they land, the sooner they can pick up the next group. I’ve gone on plane rides at these places and it’s like a rollercoaster drop as soon as the last person leaves.
The pilot may be partially at fault, but this is common practice in the space
Yup, sounds like negligence to me I guess. It would still be good to know how/why this happened exactly though.
It means probation. If the pilot doesn’t violate the terms of their probation in the time set for it then they will only have to pay half of the fine.
What a way to go. Yikes.
Wow.
