Probably unpopular opinion, but recently i found infinite scrolling being very addictive. I would like to scroll about 50 posts (might be customizable), then click a button to load more, like in Voyager.

This does sound like a good suggestion. Controlling social media and consumption of screen time is no bad thing if you are aware of it’s issues.

On RiF I could continuously scroll, but there was a line that noted “page 2” etc as you scrolled to the next page. That was a simple reminder to check myself lol.

You could also turn off autoloading of the next page in RiF. The app the RiF creator made for Tildes has the same option.

Whilst it’s not what you’re looking for specifically, I found it very helpful to scroll an amount of posts down, then read upwards, as a means of curbing my urge to doom scroll.

Sounds like you need a timer on your Lemmy app.

In Android: Settings -> Digital Wellbeing -> Dashboard

There you can set timers for specific apps, which let’s you use those apps for only the amount of time you specify, per day.

    I hope this helps you!

I built a task in Automate to set a timer everytime I open the app, and it reminds after so long.

I could set it to automatically close the app, too, but that felt a bit forced and more of an annoyance when I was in the middle of an article.

I still think your suggestion is more user friendly, though, just thought I’d share my personal solution

I’ve set up Android to close and block the app after 30 minutes of use. It’s forceful but if it weren’t, I’d completely ignore it

Excellent suggestion and a good way to keep social media consumption in check.

Your phone likely has a way to limit the amount of time you can spend on an app. For me it’s under “Digital Wellbeing”. I’d rather point people towards that than have the dev get sidetracked on implimenting this.

Yep, I gave the same advice. It’s pretty good. But it doesn’t help limit the time during each session, if that’s what you’d want.

This is something that just makes everything worse because one person doesn’t care enough to set a timer, or limit their own screentime. Grow the fuck up and take responsibility for this absolutely minor, nonsense thing, isntead of making it someone else’s responsibility to program it, where you’ll just ignore it anyway.

Limit yourself to 50? Pbbbththtt. Waste of time.

It wouldn’t be mandatory for everyone, and so it depends on how simple it is for the dev to add. The app is very customizable already and that’s why I like it, even if I don’t use all the features that others may use

Boost is fairly extensive but there’s a lot of menus.

Hey, I know. Let’s add the option to hide menu options we’ll never use.
