Recently hopped over to Lemmy from Reddit, initially tried Boost and the web app and wasn’t super happy with the experience however after installing Singing I can happily say the experience has improved vastly. It feels more promising and premium than the actual official Reddit app!
Yup I also ended up on sync. Seems to be the best.
I used it for reddit and I’m using it here, my favorite app for sure!
Sync is dope. Does anyone know if there is a setting to display both upvotes and downvotes? That’s my only minor annoyance so far. I think showing the cumulative votes misses a lot of context.
The customizable swipe actions are amazing 🙌
There doesn’t seem to be a way in Past View or Comment Options, that’s where I’d imagine the setting to be, cant seem to find a global option either.
There is an option called “Show Short Scores” though I can’t seem to figure out what it does?
I’m pretty sure “show short scores” is meant to abbreviate larger vote totals. So for example, if a post has 1234 points, Sync will abbreviate it to 1.2k.
That makes sense!
Yeah I couldn’t find it either. I know there are some features that were ported over from the reddit app that don’t have any function on Lemmy yet. “Show Short Scores” might be one of them
Possibly just hasn’t been activated or converted properly yet .
The dev welcomes suggestions just so you know. I used sync for reddit for years before he was forced out and he has helped me troubleshoot one on one in the past. I’m still learning how lemmy works but whatever the equivalent of subreddits is just look for sync.

I thought I’d mention that - if you haven’t found it already - there’s a bunch more post view options if you switch to Cards or Slides. (It took me forever to figure out how to change my text sizes and stuff because I usually switch to Smaller Cards or Compact right away - during the install wizard dealie, so before you would get to see all the options available in those 2 views.)
But, if you’ve already found that stuff, or you guys use slides and found it immediately… then I guess disregard this comment and have a lovely rest of your day/night cycle!
What didn’t you like about Boost?
The UI/UX just didn’t appeal, I’m sure it’s a great app Sync just feels much more fluid and inviting from the get go.
Interesting. I liked Sync ok, but Boost just felt faster and cleaner to me.
Weird Sync feels lightning quick.
Not OP, but I tried Boost and found I couldn’t configure it to be as compact as Sync.
same here! I just can’t with any other client. They don’t fit my needs. I put off installing Sync because of the low rating on Google Play but now I downloaded it and OMG I AM IN LOVE!
