The federal agency, after an investigation prompted by ProPublica’s reporting, blasted Intuit for misleading customers about its “free” tax-filing program and directed the company to take specific steps to fix its ads.
If you have a standard w2 it is very easy to fill out and most of it is basic math. Intuit has lobbied for years saying it’s complex and convinced people that we need them. The only thing they did was make digital filing a lot easier.
The irs should have had their own platform earlier.
Here’s a thought, maybe make the tax code simple to understand and eliminate these bullshit tax services all together.

The IRS should absorb Intuit and everyone in charge can individually pay the people
