The argument it’s a different game mode and not DLC is kinda dumb.

You bought the version that guarantees all DLC for the game forever and now they bring out something and say oh no this isn’t DLC it’s a different mode. They sure as shit aren’t posting the disk out to people so it’s still Dowoladable content

An entire mode locked behind a $100-250 paywall? I’m so glad I never got in to the game. I was close.

Regarding how bad BattleState Games are; I changed my email address a while back and because I have no access to the old address I cannot update my BSG account to the new address. I’ve spent months in contact with BSG and supplied them with everything short of a DNA sample but they will not update the address.

I can still access the account, but not the game, and there is no way to update the address without going through BSG support. I’ve also spoken out on their forums amongst others with the same issue with no response from BSG.

I bought 2 Edge of Darkness editions (one for my ex-partner) and yet I cannot play the game at all. Fuck BSG, good game, dogshit company.

Hey so I was actually able to get them to change my email last year. I sent them an email telling them I was losing my email, as in it was getting completely deleted. I then sent them an email showing gmail picture showing the email address in the login text box and it showing “couldn’t find this account”

I wont lie, I did this by putting in a fake email, hitting enter, then replacing it with my real email. It was a huge fucking hassle, took a year, and required lying, but this is what got it done.

That’s how my requests started as well. Then they needed the email receipt and confirmation of the email address that it was sent to (which I have), then multiple types of confirmation that the old email couldn’t be reactivated/accessed, then in-game information like nickname (which I changed each wipe so I don’t know), then username (?) and confirmation from my bank of payment being sent. That’s where I’m stuck. That’s like 5 years ago and the two payment methods I possibly used at the time don’t have records for it (very long story).

That’s the point where I gave up. The game isn’t worth spending any more of my time haggling with BSG support or sifting through paperwork and emails.

I feel like they use the email address as a primary key in their database and need to copy an account and duplicate it to set it to another mail.

It’s the only possible explanation I see as to why they don’t let us do it.

It’s either that or something to do with combating RMT and multiple account creation for hacking accounts.

Either way it’s funny that out of the few companies I’ve had to go through this with only BSG has been so painful.

    Gray Zone Warfare on steam.

Not in early access yet but early alpha gameplay has this as a better looking tarkov with a persistent map.

Same idea same looking ui and everything.

Best part, it’s not Battlestate Games

Hunt: Showdown is also another good option. It is not the same timeline, it is set in 1890’s Florida swamps, but as a Battle Royale without region limitations or anything forcing combat, it is a great game to stalk your prey or go for close quarters combat. Ballistics and medical system is rather simpler yet still very effective in how encounters go down, and also no inventory hassle.

Slower fire rate, no extraction point campers, all kinds of weirdos doing all kinds of shit that makes no sense but make every round somewhat unique and memorable. 500 hours in with 2 buddies in a year and the game still feels fresh without shoving new weapons down every month.

Also no progression hassle. 99% of the weapons can be utilized on every round, just gotta consider how you play with them and how to play against other hunters’ weapons.

It is not something that can scratch the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. itch, though.

Hunt is fantastic. I’ve played 250 hours of this and never got bored enough to quit. Other games I used to love, like Siege, got kinda boring by about the same playtime. Hunt definitely feels somewhat unique each match, and it keeps it interesting!

Gray Zone Warfare looks really cool and has similarities to tarkov, but the overall gameplay loop is pretty different. It’s a much slower and less PVP focused game.

Arena Breakout: Infinite is an upcoming game that is much more similar to Tarkov

The game scratches an itch for me that no other video games has ever been able to. Really sucks that the devs are awful. Really hoping a good replacement game comes out sometime.

Seriously. I’ve never had a game pump adrenaline for me like Tarkov. Combined with the fact that over hundreds of hours of play in a wipe, I still feel like I’m making long term progress in every raid is just addicting. The core gameplay loop is just fun.

Give me a good dev who respect their players who can give me these things and there goes years of my gaming time.

No worries. The cost here is disk space as GAMMA is built on top of the free Anomaly game. In total, it looks like its costing me 89.3 GB of storage on an NVME, and they do recommend an SSD at least for the games (that total includes S.T.A.L.K.E.R Anomaly, and GAMMA).

Anomaly can be obtained here https://www.moddb.com/mods/stalker-anomaly, and I believe you can get GAMMA from this discord https://discord.com/invite/stalker-gamma.

Follow the install instructions on the GAMMA discord when it comes to both Anomaly and GAMMA, they are pretty straight forward, and they have free support!

I think you would be impressed by the AI, it is some of the best enemy AI I have ever experienced. They peek corners just like a player would. The other day when I was playing, an enemy peeked a corner in front of me, shot me and immediately went back behind the corner. I walked into the building that they had peeked around and looked out of a window to see if I could spot them. The AI had backed up behind cover and was holding the corner they had peeked, not moving at all.

Never seen AI that smart in any game in my life, if I had walked around that corner, I would have been dead!

While the game is unforgiving and there is a fairly steep learning curve, it is one of the most incredible games I have played in my life, again, for free!

Let me know how it goes if you give it a shot :)

Wow, those bonuses are way more pay to win than the previous ones. Really shitty of them to release this.

The previous ones were all attainable without paying and any weapons you got as part of the bundle, while nice, often did not last long unless you were good at the game.

Sure…be mad at the developer, but also be mad at the fools paying $250 to win as the only reason it is offered, is because people are buying.

While you are correct, eft is orders of magnitudes worse with cheaters than any other game. Russian devs transparently dgaf. It’s actually kinda impressive.

This makes me laugh so hard.

EFT fanboys shelled out big bucks ($140) to buy the edge of darkness edition that promised a bunch of stuff - including coveted gamma containers that gave you expanded inventory space. Importantly, it promised free access to ALL future DLC. It was removed from the store in January without any reason.

Today Battlestate Games announced the “Unheard of Edition” for $250 that gives increased rep gain, inventory space, items and loot, and access to offline progression and PvE modes. It gives you special pockets that carry full mags. It gives you unique items and weapons. It is so clearly pay to win and so expensive that even the EFT fanboys are pissed. And people who bought EfD have the pleasure of buying this new version like everyone else because it’s not a DLC - it’s a new game mode, apparently.

BSG responded to the backlash in the healthiest way possible: by doubling down. Today, after a competitor (Arena Unleashed or some shit) mocked them on Twitter, BSG retweeted them - giving them more free advertising than they’ve had in any form. Absolutely incredible to watch this shitty company implode.

The most incredible thing is that all of this is bullshit. BSG has convinced people that playing Tetris with their inventory is actually Gritty Realism to the extent that they think their players will pay $250 to get an 8x8 box and bigger pockets. Next thing you know, you’ll be able to pay a mere $300 to have an in-game map and vendors that consistently sell things.

Anyone know the status of the single player tarkov project? Been a while since I looked at it, and I’d like to bring it into the discussion when the parent company is threatening the community essentially.
