I’m gonna leave this thread with more questions than I had when I started reading that.

Hell no. My mother was a repressed prude and my dad never had a adult conversation with me in his life.

MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Self-Hosting A Cluster On Old PhonesEnglish3·14 days agoYou can use a battery powered device without the battery plugged in. I’ve never built capacitor bank for a more modern mobile device but its probably possible with off the shelf boards. The last one I built was years ago for a dentist office. It was a mp3 player they used for the hold music. Pulled the bad battery and built a fairly small capacitor bank. The only complication was getting the right resister for the third terminal. In the case of the mp3 player it was a temperature sensor. Modern phones use this channel to communicate battery info which might complicate things a bit.
Any word can be a word in english.

No, I’m just proof that the idea that dogs have a much better sense of smell than humans is bull.
My super annoying power is a sense of smell similar to the person in the post. I can smell ants, roaches and sick humans. I can smell all kinds of things and it has its uses. I can small bad food and mold a day or so before it is apparent to others.
The downside is that I can small all kinds of things such as horrible BO that others can’t. I can smell when women are menstruating. I can smell so many things that others can’t that I’m jealous of people who just smell things normally.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?English1·17 days agoI need something automated that I can run on each machine in the domain. I haven’t read any of the docs on this utility. Perhaps it has a way to do that.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Games@lemmy.world•6* months away now. If you're on 10, do you plan to upgrade? Make the jump to Linux?English2·19 days agoI’m blocking addresses at the router daily. I could live with 11 if I could uninstall their garbage. I’ve tried any number of things to keep crapilot 365 off of my domain machines but I’m told I have to have the enterprise edition to do that.

All the controls put in place to prevent this have been changed. So stupid tarifs(Are there any other kind) and a unregulated market system has us primed for some serious times.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Today I Learned@lemmy.world•TIL About the Smoot-Hawley Act, Which was the 20% Across the Board Tariff That Deepened the Great Depression and Resulted in the Largest Senate Seat Loss in HistoryEnglish5·20 days agoNot the second time but some are saying this one is similar to two others including smoot-hawley that triggered a huge economic downturn.

All machines I purchase are pro machines. The only home machine a laptop we installed linux on it and just kept going.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto You Should Know@lemmy.world•YSK that a new internet/account bypass during Windows 11 installs already exists. Here is a 7 step guide.English5·25 days agoLooks better than my solution which was to join the machine to a domain then add a local account after. I always add a local account of my machines then add them to a domain. Simple fact is they want to trap people in their walled garden and it isn’t going that well for them.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•Another 122.88TB SSD just launched and this one comes from an obscure Chinese startup you've probably never encounteredEnglish57·25 days agoNo because Chinese isn’t a race its a nationality. If you used one of the races there like Han The predominate race there. than yes it would be racist. The Han are in fact often refereed to has the real Chinese. But china is made up of many races not just the one.
MehBlah@lemmy.worldto Technology@lemmy.world•In the latest Windows 11 preview build, Microsoft removed the “bypassnro” command, which let users skip signing into a Microsoft Account when installing Windows.English2·25 days agoI will just have to sign it up to a domain then add a local user using the command prompt. Still a lot more trouble than installing it should be but I will not give in to this garbage push to make everyone have a microsoft account. I disable the store and all of it on every PC I install.

I’ve been using it for over a decade. Prior to that I used open office but it quickly became clear Openoffice couldn’t match the development of LibreOffice. There is no concrete reason to buy microsoft’s bloated ever changing garbage.
