  • Letting it burn down would be best, it’s going to be torn down and destroyed anyway if it was that hard to put out.

Edit: not sure I empathize with those downvoting me, I dont see a world where a private business’s asset, which is covered by insurance, is worth the health and safety of an entire community for any length of time.

Sorry Helen, we can’t run your dialasys machine because it would inconvenience Mr. Landowner. Sorry Martha, I know you’ve just been in a lab accident and your skin is melting off, but we need the emergency shower water for Mr. Businessman so that he thinks we’re doing work instead of caring about our community.

  • I dunno, but could you email your congressperson this? I imagine you’re seeing previews in Ukraine.

My best guess is lines of AI controlles guns with dumb bullets firing at the sky. The first wave will be painful depending on scale, but a country in need should be able to have their best and brightest have something up and running in a few days.

This occuring to the USA would likely result in an awfully strong response with whatever they’ve been coming up with.

  • Why would a company dedicated to privacy concerns even entertain connecting to Google? I would imagine the customers using Proton would leave services that don’t value privacy, so why is it being invited back in? Seems like Proton may be changing which customers they value while holding onto name recognition. Enshitification continues.

Sounds like a shady deal with Alphabet for a financially struggling company that may or may not have a board which decided they liked money better than their customers one day.

Don’t let people tell you that “everything’s fine, don’t jump to conclusions”. I have no idea who that is or if they have a stake in this outside or a random Lemmy user, but I would imagine a lot of people would have a financial or other interest in ensuring the public continues to think Proton is safe and private.

Be willing to question and verify. Don’t be complacent.
