  • Thanks. Readable files sounds interesting.

Maybe, I’ll give it a shot in the future…

For now, Joplin is working fine and there is no scandal yet that makes me move away from it…

Disadvantages I’m seeing at the moment if I switched over to Silverbullet:

    • Yes, it’s super portable because it’s running in the web browser, but if I have 3 devices and hosted SilverBullet on a 4th device, that device needs to be online all the time to access my notes, right? With Joplin, this is different. I can use Joplin on 3 devices and once a month, I can turn on the device that hosts Joplin Cloud and everything syncs. Making notes when being offline (e.g. at work) when there is no connection to the SilverBullet server seems to be impossible, too, right? Or can the PWA handle this scenario better than I think?
    • Joplin has a wunderful feature on Android for tablet: You can draw with your pen on your note and it will be embedded as an image in the markdown. This makes Joplin the Nr. 1 for me at the moment.

  • not a lady with snakes for hair

Jesus Christ, that’s Medusa, not Hydra…

I am now completely convinced you don’t understand what the Hydra effect is at all.

No, of course not!!!1111 It’s very difficult to understand the word!!!111 Totally impossible to apply the “you slice 1 head off and 2 new ones appear” on the Hamas conflict to get “for every fighter you kill, two new ones will emerge”… Only you are able to do this /s

The Hydra effect basically means that for every fighter you kill, two new ones will emerge.

Good job. And now, you need to understand this: I don’t believe, that your theory “WE WILL FOR SURE EXPERIENCE THE HYDRA EFFECT” necessarily applies here!!

    Do you understand that??

You act like it’s a fact that it’s 100% impossible that Israel could get rid of Hamas and that a new Gaza government and a new Israel government can find a persistent solution. It’s not.

You can not negotiate a persistent peace with an organization that has the main goal to destroy Israel. Their main goal is not a separate state. Their main goal is to destroy Israel!! Please tell me how you’d negotiate with them…

Hamas is a pain in the *** for Israel, but also for the civilians in Gaza. If Hamas stays, there won’t be peace and we make sure that even more generations of people die there.

  • So it has no plans to avoid the Hydra effect.

We better hope, they have. And I don’t think, their strategy is based on “Let’s destroy and decide afterwards”. The Israel opposition is also involved in the decision.

2.3 million people will not starve to death

The 2.3 million is obviously exaggerated. That’s the total population, but I accept that argument. Cease-fire can reduce “starving to death”, but it’s clear, that temporary “peace” is not permanent peace.

IMO, Netanyahu has a time window for external support. The longer this takes, the less the support. And that’s why they are pushing this operation.

I hope, this ends with a Hamas out of power, followed by the Israel opposition getting rid of Netanyahu, who is very unpopular since the attack on Israel. With a new government in Gaza and a new one in Israel, maybe, this gives them the opportunity to solve this conflict.

  • In the end, I had a 2 pages-document of pros and cons for leaving church…

    Some of them:

    • If I wasn’t part of Christianity and had the choice to join, would I do it? No.
    • The scandals
    • Their actions to keep the scandals under the radar which made it even worse
    • Wasted money in Germany. A bishop in Germany bought a bathtub for 15k €. That’s a prominent case, but there are a lot more
    • The fact that the church is literally a throttle of evolution.
    • Still no equality between men and women (I’m sure, they’ll do that at some point. But it’s the church. So, it’s gonna take 600 years)
    • No proof of existence of a god or whatever
    • There are n religions saying, their god is the real one. At least n-1 of them must be wrong.
    • Only 3-5% of the money you pay as a member via taxes goes to charity (in Germany)
    • The “Bistum Köln” in Germany has so much money… They started investing it and bought shares of companies.
    • I became a member of a religion when I was < 1 year old. I confirmed it when I was 13??? Most other live-relevant decisions are 18+. This should be the same here.
    • Religion lessons in school felt like a waste of time
    • Church is a black box. No one knows what they are actually doing, how much money they own, …
    • Church has an own “justice system” in Germany, which is terrible.
    • Most Christians prefer not acting christian when they are challenged.
    • I didn’t want to finance an Anti-LGBT group
    • Ratlines, a.k.a. “How the church helped Nazis to escape Europe after WW2”
    • … and 10 more points.
    • Also, I found only 3 or 4 very bad arguments to not quit

And when I realized that the only thing keeping me in there is “fearing” how some people (mostly family) might react when I’d quit, I knew, I had to quit as soon as possible.
