sploosh@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can you put a ship inside a Klein bottle?3·2 months agoI feel like Klein bottles are famously the exception to colloquial notions of “inside.” Do Möbius strips have two sides because colloquially nothing has only one side?
sploosh@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Can you put a ship inside a Klein bottle?35·2 months agoKlein bottles have no inside, so no. Either that or everything is in every Klein bottle.
sploosh@lemmy.worldto Linux Gaming@lemmy.world•Europa Universalis V from Paradox will only support Windows, no Linux or macOS this timeEnglish7·2 months agoThis is the scenario I saw debated in the early 2000s on slashdot if you replace Proton with Wine. Some folks didn’t like Wine because if it works well it means there’s no reason to build natively for Linux, hurting Linux and contextualizing it within Microsoft’s ecosystem, instead of beside it. I’m all for anything that means I can play my Steam library and not run Windows, so I think Proton is the bee’s knees.
Dude, The Fate of Atlantis was awesome. Don’t you be crapping on my LucasArts point and click adventure games

Or a person they’re beefing with? A mentally ill person who found these pictures and decided to direct their hate at them? People do all sorts of weird stuff for all sorts of weird reasons.
Don’t know much about banskia, except that turners like the pods for lathe work.

Where are you that hasn’t seen massive inflation since COVID?

Another CustardFist, another punchline without a setup.
I heard how great the Outer Wilds was, so when I saw The Outer Worlds on sale I thought “oh hey sure I’ll buy that for $15” and I was EXTREMELY confused at why people had said it was the best game you could only play once, because that game wasn’t even fun the first time. I later realized my mistake and got the real deal and oh my god I wish I could forget that game and play it again.

I don’t think you’re using that phrase correctly.
Macs also lack GPUs suitable for gaming. The modern ones are remarkably efficient, partly because they didn’t jam a 4060’s worth of graphic silicon into them. Why would they? Macs are for web browsing, media creation, productivity if you’re in the C-suite and making other people think you’re cool if you’re in a coffee shop. Their users do not expect to run AAA games at 4k60fps.
Hey it’s months later but FYI, my parents insisting on showing naked baby pictures of me to romantic partners over my objections factored into my decision to cut them out of my life. Children are people, and if you decide to show your lack of respect for them by doing things like that that are entirely unnecessary you can lose them. It has become more and more normal to simply cut out people who are toxic to you, don’t assume that you’re immune.
sploosh@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•Realistically, how feasible is it to 100% boycott a massive corporation (such as Amazon) for an extended period of time?6·4 months agoYeah, AWS is ginormous and largely invisible. You can usually figure out when something’s in AWS if you can traceroute it, and sometimes by IP, but that requires knowing the IP of the server in question AND having the know-how to use and understand those tools’ output.
It’s kinda shocking to see pictures of pre-1980 German Shepards next to modern ones. What the hell happened to their hips?
No one is going to admit they regularly beat their dog after the dog snaps. Blame it on the dog, put the dog down and the responsibilty dies with it.
