I don’t know if this was the one, but Greta Thunberg decided not to go on the ship last minute. They could’ve killed one of the greatest activists of this century.

    Edit: It was.

Double edit: Wikipedia also mentions this.

She is planning on sailing on the second attempt.

Perhaps maybe Sweden / the EU may step up if a Swedish citizen is killed live from an Israeli drone strike. I hope it doesn’t come to that, but Israel is a bunch of monsters doing the classical human thing of blaming their lust for violence and their greed for land on the god they created.

Mossad killed an unarmed 19-year-old American citizen after boarding one of these ships over a decade ago, and absolutely nothing was done. Sweden generally seems more reasonable than America, but I still don’t have high hopes they or the EU would do the right thing if Greta was martyred in this way.

She is well known but not successful. Creating publicity makes no difference if it does not affect change.

IMO our “greatest activists” would be successful. Bono, of U2, is one of the biggest advocates for HIV and AIDS reduction/treatment. He has been very successful at encouraging action on this issue I would call him a great activist. Thuneberg has been largely ignored.

“Great activist” Bono has been mostly silent on the ongoing genocide in Gaza for the past 20 months.

The “great activist” has been releasing tepid statements running cover for genocidal Israel as he continues his strong financial ties with the country doing ethnic cleansing in broad daylight.

Could’ve predicted that from this turd.
                  Same category as Sean Penn.
                  All the same paid shills.
Can’t shut up when an enemy of the west can be critiised and crawl under a rock when they commit warcrimes.
Worst is Amal Clooney, whose job it is to supposedly investigate warcrimes.
Apparently she has been ‘too busy’ for more than a year to do or say anything about Palestine.

Just look at that website: https://cfj.org/

The most obscure conflicts, Kashmir, Maledives or whatever.
Somehow they overlooked one. Painfully obvious.

The activism I highlighted him being successful in is his HIV activism. Is he obligated to represent every single issue you find important or does he have the right to make his own choices?

Bono has seen success in his endeavors. Thuneberg has seen little to no success so I don’t think we should be calling her “the greatest” as the greats are successful.

The fact that she’s no longer a media focus is because she’s anti-capitalist not because she has achieved anything.

Results matter at some point. There aren’t participation trophies for activism.

People doing it for the right reasons wouldn’t care, people caring about such causes wouldn’t really award activists unless for like a lifetime achievement award. I’m guessing, I don’t know.

Palau revoked its flag from the Conscience prior to the attack, and authorities in Malta, Greece and Turkey have threatened to confiscate the ship if it comes to port.[14]

That’s what I mean by Mossad. Show up unannounced to someone making the decision. Show photos of their wife and kids from a sniper nest. Walk out of the room. Shit like that is their MO.

Greece in general though just can’t get enough of that genocide

A mid 2024 poll shows that 61% of Greeks consider Israel an ally of Greece, which is one of the most positive ratings in the world post Gaza War.

From what I understand you can’t just take off from a port without a flag, that is, to sail in international waters your vessel must be registered to a country and the registration process takes time during which you have to just sit there and wait.
