Floridas surgeon general is a stupid piece of shit, and is such a disgrace to medicine he shouldn’t even be allowed to hold a tissue.

but lets face it, These are the kids of anti-vax parents… Who weren’t going to obey a quarantine even if it was ordered.

That doesn’t make the idiot surgeon general right, or blameless, before someone tries to jump on me for that. I’m just saying that we should know these types of people by now. Someone says do X to protect others, and they actively do the opposite of X because MaH fReEdUmBs

Only way you’re gonna get these people to fucking quarantine is if you put barricades around their house and have 24/7 guard rotations (and even then, there’s a strong chance you’ll end up with some nutjob right wing officer who will let them come and go as they please anyway, cause like I said… this fucking cancer goes deeper than the surgeon general)

The bad part is antivaxxers aren’t all right wing idiots. There is a large number of them who vote dem. This goes a lot deeper than just politics at this point. The level of homeopathic health has more people than ever believing in it.

My city is full of crunchy granola hippies who are barefoot and are pro-tolerance, BLM, etc. They would absolutely not vote right.

But they would absolutely be antivax and try to heal you with chakra magic or rosewater.

Since the pandemic antivax is overwhelmingly conservative.

Before then it was fringe hippies… who were also often conservative, they just smoked weed as well.

O I’m not saying it doesn’t skew one way, but there are a lot of people on the left who are the everything in the stores are poison types.

If they’re breaking the law they should be arrested. Endangering kids? Take them away. All we have is the rule of law. To suggest anything else is ridiculous.

It’s sad watching FL turn into a Christian shit hole nightmare but what can you do when it’s run by the mob, foreign criminals, racist hegemonic families, and Donald Trump?

Doctors and health officials typically recommend that children who are not vaccinated for measles isolate for 21 days after they have been exposed at school. In the letter, the state surgeon general, Dr. Joseph Ladapo, said it was up to parents and guardians to determine when their children can attend school, even if those children have not been vaccinated against the disease.

This asshole should be held liable for any kids there (or people those kids have contact with) if they get sick, die, lose their hearing, or any other adverse outcome. Criminally and financially.

They should, but they won’t. Generally, health officials are politically fine if people die under their watch; its an accident. It’s if they shut down something and then nothing happens (eg, H1N1) that they usually get fired or thrown under the bus politically. Your neck is on the line each time you shut down something like a school unless something really bad happens, like a lot of people dying from viral meningitis.

The Premonition by Michael Lewis is a really good book, the same guy that did Moneyball and the Big Short on why our health officers aren’t really a unified force to stop fucked up storybook diseases from killing Americans. It’s more like 5,000 individual kingdoms where some people are really on top of it, and some people are totally screwed up and looking the wrong way.

Someday, we will put on our big boy pants and have a competent force that actually prevents stuff like drug resistant tuberculosis from being spread across state lines. Right now, though, health officers are generally too afraid to really enforce getting infected people to take medicines so it doesn’t spread to others, since the risk of getting fired is lower. We also don’t get the best and brightest as health officers because you usually take a giant pay hit by taking the job as a health officer. It’s a multipronged problem.

Yes, as they always have since it came out.

It’s included in the MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)

It does massive damage to your immune system, which is bad if you are on the hook for healthcare expenses. Destroys your long-term immune system like AIDS, and it takes years to fully recover- if you don’t get organ damage from it. It’s a fucked up, storybook disease. Luckily the MMR vaccine protects you from it.

There was an interesting video on what it does to your body that I occasionally come back to.
