…its kinda funny that I received a lifetime ban from reddit for glorifying violence.

…with a joke about Princess Leia killing Jabba the Hutt no less

During the first trump regime I got banned from /r/politics for inciting violence by repeating a quote from trump and replacing the original target’s name with trump.

Pissed off a mod on a large sub, got banned for “ban evasion” (I only had 1 account)
Later learned I could get rid of the name I picked when I was 12 by deleting and remaking my account.
months later I accidentally commented in that large sub something totally innocent and got automatically permabanned from ALL of reddit. Appeal got denied instantly too

Yeah. “Reddit admin” is the 5th Cluster B personality disorder. Its like when you’re young and the guy in class with the most prominent Adam’s apple gets put in charge while the teacher takes a piss.

No…they’re much dirtier than that, apparently, although it’s difficult to know for sure. There are many results in Google if you look for methods, and sometimes people in the biz chime in with some good answers, but it’s still mostly speculation.

I used the same email haha
I wasn’t trying to hide or break rules, I was just changing my name because the old one was cringey 😅

I’m sure they do have loads of ways to detect alts though, it’s a pretty interesting field security wise.

Not just IP but cookies that load everytime you log in. When they want to ban you they send you one of these cookies.

I got a subreddit to a million users and it got banned. Got another to 100k and it got banned. No probs from the admins until I protested some shit by doing the bare minimum on some other subs, then I’m an issue.

I’m willing to bet this wasn’t the reason that they banned you, rather, you got them upset by having an opinion they didn’t like and speaking it outloud (like, say, saying Israel seems to be carrying out genocide on Palestinians), and they made a note of it so they could ban you in the next window of opportunity. They do this sort of bullshit all the time, sometimes using alts acting like assholes that never get banned no matter how many rules they break to try to rile you up. That way, they basically don’t have to answer to anyone.

I was harassed and stalked by people on reddit targeting people in disability related subs especially in the autism subs. I reported them and their sockpuppet accounts and nothing was done because reddit sent a message saying that it did not break their rules. When I told one of the stalkers alts to leave me alone several times I was flagged by a bot as harassing them. I appealed it but reddit did not care.

Another time I suggested to someone a telemedicine quit smoking service may help them and that was being flagged as “unauthorized transaction of prohibited goods”. They banned me for 7 days. They never even told me what comment I made but that was the only comment I could think of that might have caused it. Reddit themselves advertises these very same telemedicine clinics and you have to go through a doctor to obtain any medication, I was not sourcing any products. I sent them an email basically begging them to tell me specifically what I said that was wrong but they never replied. I said at the end “How am I supposed to learn from this if you won’t even tell me what comment was against the rules and clearly explain it to me?”. At least on most lemmy instances there is a modlog with what comment broke the rules and specifically why.

Meanwhile I see tons of subs and users doing way more than what I did. This coupled with the fact that I am part of the blind community and reddit banned the third party client I was using that had far better features for disabled users really turned me away from wanting to keep posting on reddit. Their global moderators and a lot of the subreddit and chat moderators are sometimes just straight up evil people who don’t care about actual victims of abuse and harassment. I have begun to really limit my use of reddit because of this biased behavior.

I have a question about reddit bans. I’m not tech savy. And I am not advocating anything illegal. But is it possible to actually get into their system and reverse a permanent ban?

Honestly, the longer I have been away from it, the more dumb it seems. So I don’t care. I can still read it, and I do - mostly to look for hardware related computer information from people who know more than me.

Im in the medical field and have already spotted several posts giving incorrect medical advice that I now can’t correct. It used to be my thing. Its a shame the admins don’t concentrate on that kind of harmful misinformation, but whatever.

Why would you even attempt that if you can much more easily circumvent their ban by using a vpn. Assuming that you can still use a vpn, I’m not on reddit anymore.

Had used it for 7 or 8 years. Karma total 3.5 million, so some people must of liked my posts and comments. Was also a mod of several groups. But I made the mistake of too much truth telling. Never broke their rules. Never threaten violence. Never threatened another user. Out of the blue permanent ban. I would say it was because of the many “reports” my posts and comments might have received by a small group of tools that loved to brigade users that disagreed with them. And forget about getting reinstated. No one even reads the appeals.
